Cafe De L’orangerie is a friendly cafe nestled in Vancouver’s Marpole area that serves Japanese-style French food. Their menu is made up of popular Japanese dishes such as chicken karaage, spicy tuna sashimi and Japanese curry in addition to Japanese fusion dishes such as Hayashi rice and Doria. They also serve classic coffee, espresso and tea based drinks you would find in a cafe and delicious looking desserts. Cafe De L’orangerie’s menu reminds me Marulilu Cafe’s menu and I really enjoy this style of Japanese fusion cuisine.
This place has been on my list of places to try out for a while, so I already knew what I wanted before I even got to the restaurant. Find out what we ordered below!
It’s been almost exactly a year since I’ve graduated with my Bachelor of Arts from UBC and although sometimes I miss being a student, I don’t miss things like the nights pulling all-nighters, being broke and elevated levels of stress. What I miss the most is seeing my friends on campus and the social activities on campus.
UBC was a time of new experiences and self-learning for me. I was really shy when I first entered university, so I decided to join a sorority in my third year and my experience in a sorority really helped me with my shyness. Although I’m now working towards a field unrelated to what I majored in, I had a great time in university and met the most amazing people.

Happy hump day! I can’t believe it’s already May; April was a month filled with gluttony, cherry blossoms, learning and rain. As April came to an end, so did my practicum at UBC Communications and Marketing. I’ve learned so much during my practicum and I’ll definitely miss the people the most.

One thing I’m going to miss about my practicum is being on UBC’s beautiful campus. I took this photo on the last week of my practicum.
Although I live in Vancouver, I’ve been spending more time in Richmond and discovering what Richmond has to offer. With the sunnier weather, I’ve also been trying to bike more often.
During my bike ride along Steveston Village, I had to stop for some frozen yogurt from Timothy’s Frozen Yogurt. I got my frozen yogurt with peaches and mango in it and it was delicious as always.
I love waffles; they’re one of my top foods but I don’t eat them as often anymore because I’ve been trying to eat healthier. The struggle is real when you love food but you also want to be healthier.
I came across the Kodiak Power Cakes at Costco and I was drawn to the high protein and whole grain ingredients in the product. I checked the ingredient list and it looked promising with ingredients such as whole grain wheat flour, whole grain oat flour, protein powder and dried honey as the sweetener. A chance to easily have high protein and low sugar waffles– I was sold!
There are 3 recipe options with varying levels of protein. You can use the mix to make waffles, pancakes, and muffins. Alternatively, the website says that you can be used as a healthy alternative in baking by substituting 1 cup flour with 1 cup Kodiak Cakes Mix and omit salt and baking powder.

My love for makeup started in high school; I remember experimenting and playing around with my mom’s makeup collection while trying to recreate makeup tutorials on Youtube. In grade 11, I discovered Sephora and I would spend my disposable income on high-end makeup. Although I still love shopping at Sephora, I’ve discovered some great drug store products that I continually purchase. I have oily skin, so most of my favourite products work well for those of you who also have oily or combination skin.
My classmates and I came to Dinesty Dumpling House (Richmond No.3 Rd location) on a Friday night to satisfy our soup dumpling craving. The restaurant was packed but luckily for us, we made a reservation so we were seated immediately. I’d recommend making a reservation on weekends as the restaurant gets quite busy.
